Changing Seasons ~ Changing Needs

This is an archived post taken from the September 2012 edition of KrantzWellness News.

September is a transition month as we pull away from Summer and move towards Fall.  This provides an opportunity to check in with our bodies and take steps to strengthen our immune system for the upcoming season.  Now is a good time to build in some self-care routines, develop more regular sleep patterns, and start, or continue, a regular exercise routine.  As our homes close up with the colder temps, getting outside for a walk, hike, or bike ride can provide some needed fresh air.
Garlic
This is the season to add garlic to your diet.  For maximum benefit, peel the cloves you will be using and leave them out for 10 minutes before chopping.  Eating raw garlic (Ie. guacamole) provides powerful healthboosting qualities and can stimulate your immune system, which helps your body fight infection.  For more tips on how to promote your body’s ability to heal, come to my free talk at Mountain View Farm on September 22nd (see side bar for more information).
